Sawani is a photographer and artist who creates images by blending drawing, mixed media and photography. She often captures quiet poetic moments and engages with the multiplicity of memory, space and time. Her work is influenced by her earlier practice of drawing and painting and she sees her photography as an extension of her earlier work. Her background leads her to explore and emphasize on gestural movements and the hand made. Sawani’s work spans from portraiture, fashion, fine art, and still life. She has showcased her work in Mumbai and New York. She is based in Mumbai, India.
Sawani has a BFA in Painting from Sir J. J School of Art and a MFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design.
